6. With whom did you discuss money matters, and how did you educate yourself financially prior to marriage?
You may want to answer your questions separately and plan a meeting to discuss them.
Our Past Financial History
1. As a couple, what has been your beliefs and behaviors regarding tithing?
2. What is you general attitude and behavior toward money? Do you consider it to be God’s money or your own?
3. As a couple, what have been your attitudes, behaviors and agreements about large purchase spending? Debt? Recreational spending? Savings? Investing? Holiday spending? Budgeting? Retirement?
4. Who primarily manages the money and why?
5. What have been your financial goals in the past, and have you met these goals?
6. Historically what emotions arise around the discussion of money? From the husband? From the wife?
Answer these questions separately, then discuss with your spouse.
It is important for you to recognize you and your spouse’s idea of managing money.
